Water Filtration 101
Which Water Filter System Do I Need?
Whole House Cartridge Style
What Is It?
This is the most common and convenient type of filter as it is directly installed into the homes main water line. It will filter all the water coming into a house and gives the homeowner filtered water to any point in the house. This is also a less expensive filter option to achieve cleaner water.
What Does It Filter?
Another great thing about this system is that they offer versatility within the same system. Meaning, with one housing you can insert many different cartridges to achieve different results. There are many different wound cartridge filters that allow you to filter sediment large or small. Carbon filter cartridges will take care of taste and odor while still filtering sediment. Pleated filters provide depth for greater sediment removal.
Whole House Spin Down Style
What Is It?
This filter is great for heavy sediment. It is a cartridge style filter that has a ball valve at the bottom that allows you to “wash” the filter by opening the valve. People like that you don’t have to shut your water off or take the filter apart to clean. The price is about 40-50% higher than the standard cartridge style but the cartiridges last much longer.
What Does It Filter?
This is made for sediment only. It will filter out sediment of all sizes. It comes in 30-1000 microns which allow you to get large sediment or very fine sediment.
Iron / pH / Hardness
What Is It?
The OXY2 Iron Filters reduce the iron below the stain level and increase the pH if the raw water is acidic. The acid water corrodes copper and brass piping and valves. If the pH is corrected a small amount of inexpensive filter media must be replenished occasionally. In many cases the OXY2 Filter will remove iron; correct the low pH problem and eliminate odor from a water supply. The OXY2 filter is equipped with a mechanical control.
What Does It Filter?
This filter is great to filter Iron pH or Hardness.
UV Filter
What Is It?
The VH410 is a whole home UV water disinfection system. It is a powerful yet compact UV disinfection system designed for the home or light commercial application, for flow rates up 18 gpm (70 lpm).
What Does It Filter?
It is designed to kill bacteria (including coliforms and e.coli), viruses, cryptosporidium, giardia, and a wide range of other microbiological contaminants, and is capable of treating flow rates up to 14 gallons per minute
